Lectio Divina for 1st Sunday of Lent C
Come Holy Spirit! I open my heart to your presence. Fill me up! Help me to recognise Your voice to follow You. I need Your guidance! Teach me to pray. Amen.
There are two churches, which belong to our Parish: Holy Spirit in Thornbury East and St Anthony's in Alphington. There are also two primary schools. For children who do not attend a Catholic school, we offer a comprehensive Religious Education Program. Incorporated into this program are: the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation. We are one Christian Family! This site was created not only for the benefit of our parishioners but also for anyone who would be interested in our activities. If you would like to become a catholic or renew your catholic faith, we would love to hear from you ASAP! You are ALWAYS welcome to our community! You can even become a member of one of many groups existing in our parish or you can simply choose to be part of the parish as whole. Jesus saved us as a community and He wants us to worship Him as a community (not only as individuals). So, come and see, experience God’s mercy, compassion and Christian love among us!
Dear Parishioners and Friends, please support us during COVID-19 pandemic. Thank you!

Ash Wednesday is a day of prayer, fasting and almsgiving, which begins a holy season of Lent. There will be 3 Masses in our churches:
9.15am at St Anthony's, Althington.
11.30am and 7pm at Holy Spirit, East Thornbury.
Dear friends, with the celebration of Ash Wednesday we start a beautiful time in the liturgical calendar – the time of spiritual renewal. I encourage you to use this holy season of Lent to deepen your relationship with God. We will have many opportunities to do that: parish Lenten Meditation groups, ‘Oikos’ Salvatorian Evangelisation Groups, Stations of the Cross, Taize Prayer Evening, Parish Reconciliation etc. Especially I would like to invite you to participate in our Lenten Retreat, which will be led
Are you not able to forgive? Simply choose to do it. Don’t worry about negative thoughts coming back to your mind.
They are connected to your good memory.
What does it mean to be happy? Are you happy at this moment of your life?
The Psalm of this 6th Sunday in ordinary time (C) starts with the word "Happy" and sets the tone for the other 149 Psalms. Even though they contain description of many straggles and sufferings they are about inner happiness, which can be found in God only.
